Robbie Robinson Course Architct

Clinton “Robbie” Robinson designed and remodeled more than 140 golf courses throughout Canada as well as the United States and South America. Robbie began his career in 1929 with the legendary Stanley Thompson and assisted Thompson on such courses as St. George’s, Banff Springs, Capilano, Westmount, and Cape Breton Highlands. Included in the golf courses Robinson designed are Trafalgar G&CC, Beverly G&CC, Cambridge GC, Craigowan G&CC, Credit Valley G&CC, Bayview CC, Cedarbrae G&CC and Sunningdale G&CC to name a few.

He was a turf grass expert and was responsible for the dissemination of turf grass information through the establishment of Canadian Turfgrass and as the Greens Section Director for the RCGA from 1949 to 1968. He was the secretary and manager of the Royal Canadian Golf Association from 1956 until 1961 and served as President of The American Society of Golf Course Architects in 1961 and 1971. Robbie Robinson was inducted to the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame in 2002 and the Ontario Golf Hall of Fame in 2007.
